It was a day of highs and lows for our boys and girls u/14 national teams on the final day of the African Junior Team Championships in Algeria.

First to the highs and massive congratulations to the u/14 girls who have qualified for the ITF World Tennis Finals after beating Kenya 3-0.

Unfortunately the u/14 boys missed out on qualifying for the global event by the thinnest of margins after losing 2-1 to Egypt.

The results saw both of our u/14 girls and boys teams finish second in their respective events, but only the girls progressed as Africa has two qualifying positions for the girls and one for the boys - based on the continent’s performance in last year’s ITF World Junior Tennis Finals.

The ITF World Junior Tennis Finals is the premier global team event for u/14 players. The 2019 edition takes place in the Czech Republic in August.

Meanwhile, the u/16 girls finished with a win over Kenya, with the u/16 boys suffering a narrow 2-1 loss to Egypt.
