Following three successful years of hosting the popular national series, Tennis South Africa (TSA) has announced that the RCS Rising Star Tennis campaign will return in 2023 for what is expected to be another exciting edition, giving South Africa's young players opportunities to develop and showcase their skills.

This season's nationwide series will be open to primary school and wheelchair tennis players, ensuring the sport continues to grow at grassroots level.

The 2022 Rising Star series saw a 29% increase in participation across all age groups and divisions, while ensuring there was significant progress in tennis development around the country.

Tennis activations were also held around South Africa, with Baikagetse Primary School facility upgraded and equipment being donated to multiple schools. Tennis clinics were also held across the country, in order to provide more opportunities and promote the sport to pupils and teachers.

The campaign, now in its fourth year, will include district and provincial events across all nine provinces from April to September, with over 3 000 children from 750 schools expected to participate. The series will conclude in October with the National Finals.

The fourth year of the RCS Rising Star Tennis programme is made possible by the generous support of RCS Group. The programme continues to create opportunities for school boys and girls from all communities and to increase youth participation in tennis.

“RCS is committed to grassroots sports development and is proud of our partnership with Tennis SA” says Regan Adams, Chief Executive Officer of RCS. “The RCS Rising Star Tennis programme has for the past 3 years impacted young lives throughout South Africa, fostering inclusivity and accessibility to sports that would traditionally be out of reach for many communities. We look forward to another year of impact!”

"We are delighted to be able to extend this successful series by launching a fourth season, again ensuring young players around South Africa are supported in terms of development, thanks to RCS Group" said TSA president Gavin Crookes.

"The RCS Rising Star Tennis programme has become a key component in terms of growing our sport, and this year's campaign is again going to ensure new players are introduced to the game while promoting tennis at school level."
