KM Sports (Kaya Majeke) hosted a successful press briefing on Tuesday in East London ahead of the inaugural Pro Kennex International Premier Tennis Challenge which gets underway on Wednesday until Sunday at Selbourne Park in East London.

The press briefing was attended by the Eastern Cape MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation Ms Fezeka Bayeni, Portfolio Head for Special Programmes in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality Cllr Xolani Witbooi and Mr Neil Naidoo, Eastern Cape Tennis President.

The event was graced by some of the country’s top tennis players including South African top women’s player Chanel Simmonds and will see local legend Mr David Kempele as tournament referee.

Tennis South Africa (TSA) official Mr Ephraim Motsiane stated that they are very excited to see new promoters getting into the space to invest in the sport.

Majeke & the MEC assured that the tournament is here to stay, “We appeal to players to support all the investors to this event for us to be able to sustain it.”

KM sports Director Kaya Majeke together with Pro Kennex Director Duane Armstrong have committed themselves to support the earmarked development centre.

Majeke stated that they highly appreciate the partnership with DSRAC, Buffalo City Metro, TSA, Sports Trust, Premier Group Hotel & Pro Kennex.

The event has attracted 130 participants with players as far across Botswana, Zimbabwe & Lesotho.

This event is expected to contribute positive towards the local GDP.
