Team South African have got their Fed Cup Euro/Africa Group 3 campaign off to the perfect start with a 2-1 win over hosts, Montenegro.
Katie Poluta set the ball rolling with a gritty three set win in the first singles match. Chanel Simmonds went down fighting in the second singles match, to a player ranked 121 in the world.
This left the tie 1-1 going into the decisive doubles rubber. However Chanel Simmonds and Madrie Le Roux quickly calmed any nerves and steered South Africa home with a decisive 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Rene Plant on her team's 2-1 win: "The team were on fire today. The win was set up by Katie. Chanel played extremely well & although she lost, she came off confident. In the doubles both Madrie and Chanel moved well & made things happen."
Tomorrow SA faces off against Kenya.
