The South African Billie Jean King Cup team had a tough start to their Euro-Africa Group II tournament on Monday as they lost their first tie 0-3 against a more experienced Estonian team. The tie began with debutant Suzanie Pretorius losing 6-1, 6-0 to Estonia's Elena Malygina in the first singles match. In the second singles match, South Africa's top-ranked player Isabella Kruger made her first Billie Jean King Cup appearance but couldn't overcome former world No.2 player Anett Kontaveit, losing 6-2, 6-2.

In the doubles match, Pretorius and Naledi Manyube lost 6-1, 6-1 to Ingrid Neel and Maileen Nuudi, resulting in an eventual 3-0 loss. The South African team will face Georgia in their next tie on Tuesday. We wish them all the best and hope they can bounce back and secure a win in their next match.
