South African 17-year-old tennis prodigy Isabella Kruger beat Sonya Macavei 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 on Sunday to advance to the second round of the Junior Wimbledon Championships.

The qualifier will next face fourth seed and world No.12 junior Nikola Daubnerova of Slovakia.

Kruger qualified on Friday for the main draw after an impressive run which saw her win two qualifying rounds without losing a set.

Kruger thrashed world No. 86 junior Madeleine Jessup from Taiwan 6-2, 6-1 in the first round of qualifying before defeating American Theadora Rabman, 6-0, 6-2 in her second qualifying match to secure her spot in the main draw event.
