Tennis South Africa (TSA) has strengthened its administrative leadership, confirming the appointment of Anthony Moruthane as the national federation's general manager.

Moruthane brings with him a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to his new role, having been promoted from his previous role as head of commercial, communications and stakeholder management at TSA which he held since 2019.

An MBA candidate, Moruthane holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in media studies & business management and a Postgraduate Diploma in business administration.

He is also a member of the Confederation of African Tennis marketing and communications commission and the national tennis transformation and development committee.

Moruthane, 34, said he was committed to providing strong operational leadership to drive the sport forward and create a lasting impact. He also looked forward to working alongside the hard-working team at the TSA office, the TSA board and the federation's provincial bodies.

"I am deeply honoured by the confidence the board of Tennis South Africa has placed in me and I'm excited to take on this new challenge as the general manager of the federation," Moruthane said.

"Tennis in the country is on an upward trajectory and I'm committed to building on this momentum. I think having been part of this organisation for over five years, I've witnessed the immense potential tennis holds in becoming one of the country's leading sporting codes.

"My focus will be on ensuring that all our key stakeholders - players, coaches, officials, fans, sponsors and even potential sponsors - continue to believe in the future of South African tennis.”

TSA President Gavin Crookes also expressed his enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, "The Board of Tennis South Africa is delighted to announce the appointment of Anthony Moruthane as the Federation’s General Manager with immediate effect.”

“Anthony has been with Tennis South Africa since 2019 and has been a senior member of the leadership team that has grown the Federation’s footprint both locally and internationally. His promotion to the General Manager position is a natural progression for him and Tennis South Africa as we continue to grow the sport of tennis in the country.

The Board has total confidence in Anthony’s ability to lead Tennis South Africa to even greater heights.”
