South Africa’s young tennis talents Jahnie van Zyl and Connor Doig delivered spirited performances at the Roland Garros Junior Championships 2025 qualifiers in Paris, showcasing their potential on the international stage.

Van Zyl made a strong start, defeating Australia’s Renee Alame 6-3, 6-3 in her opening match. However, the 16-year-old - ranked 151st in the ITF junior girls' rankings - faced a tough challenge in the final qualifying round, falling to Brazil’s Nauhany Da Silva 6-2, 6-2. Despite the loss, her performance highlights her growing potential as one of South Africa’s brightest prospects.

On the boys’ side, 17-year-old Connor Doig (ranked 68th in ITF juniors) opened with an impressive 6-3, 6-3 victory over France’s Evan Simon. His run ended in the final qualifying round with a hard-fought defeat to Savva Rybykin (6-4, 6-3), but his competitive display reinforces his status as a rising star in junior tennis.
