The finest young tennis talent in South Africa will converge on the Free State capital, Mangaung, next week for the Junior National Championships, proudly sponsored by American Express.

The country’s premier junior tennis tournament will take place across six top venues in Bloemfontein: Oranje Meisieskool, Free State Stadium, University of Free State, Grey and Eunice School, Oud Studente Sport Club, and Mundene Tennis Club. The event will feature intense competition across four age categories - Under-12, U-14, U-16, and U-18 - for both girls and boys as they battle for national glory.

With over 500 entries, the six-day spectacle will run from 2-7 April 2025, showcasing the future stars of South African tennis.

This year’s edition will also mark a historic first with an official opening ceremony which will be held at Oranje Meisieskool on Wednesday, 2 April, starting at 09h00, adding grandeur to the prestigious tournament.

The flagship South African junior showpiece will succeed the Free State American Express Super 8 junior tournament to be held at the same Bloemfontein venues. The American Express Super 8 event will take place from 28 March to 1 April 2025, setting the stage for an exciting week of high-performance tennis.

Tennis South Africa’s General Manager, Anthony Moruthane, commented, "We are excited to bring the American Express Junior National Championships back to Mangaung, a region with a rich tennis heritage that has hosted the event for over two decades. This tournament is a vital platform for nurturing the next generation of South African tennis champions. With American Express’s support, we are elevating the experience for players, coaches, parents, and spectators alike. We look forward to witnessing exceptional talent as our young athletes compete for national glory.
